Recreation Operations Manager
Description
The City of Thompson is currently accepting applications for the management position in the Recreation and Community Services Department:
The successful candidate will supervise staff and assist both the Program Recreation Manager and the Director of Recreation and Community Services overseeing the development of the Recreation Department. The role involves supervisory, administrative, and professional duties in the operation of the recreational facilities and parks.
The successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting, training, managing, and fostering a positive and productive work environment with the team of recreation staff, including supervising the Pool and Ice Plant Operators, Laborers, Custodian staff, facility attendants, and others as assigned.
The successful candidate will preferably have a bachelor’s degree in a sports or recreation-related field, or a minimum of 5 years experience in a supervisory role, supervising 10 plus staff members in a unionized environment. Knowledge and comprehension of aquatic recreation, Ice arenas, recreational complexes, outdoor recreation and parks, including accepted standards, principles, concepts, and related legislative mandates, knowledge of pertinent federal, provincial, and local laws, codes, and regulations is also required. The candidate will possess strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle diverse challenges. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to follow and provide clear instructions.

Compensation
$42.40 - $48.47 per hour
